Senior Software Engineer I (Backend Developer)

- Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field OR High School/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field
- Experience writing code for moderately complex applications
- Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices or mobile applications
- Experience designing/building moderately complex applications/automation
- Experience writing automation test or deployment scripts
- Experience creating/coding scripting solution to fix moderately complex problems
- Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
- At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership
- Willing to travel up to/at least 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- 3–5+ years of industry experience as a Data Engineer.
- 3–5+ years building and deploying solutions in Azure cloud environments.
- Experience in Azure Data Services or similar technologies:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Data Lake (ADLS Gen2)
- Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB
- Dataverse
- Microsoft Fabric
- Experience on Working with Delta Lake, Parquet, JSON and CSV formats.
- Experience on building dashboards using Power BI or similar technologies.
- Programming skills Python or similar programming languages
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and experience working with REST APIs, batch processing
- Hands-on experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using ADF, Azure Synapse (PySpark, Scala), Microsoft Fabric
- Experience in working with Power Apps and Dataverse
- Hands-on experience working with Azure AI and Azure Machine Learning services:
- Azure Machine Learning Studio, ML Pipelines, Managed endpoints.
- Building or integrating with AI Agents (e.g., OpenAI's Azure OpenAI Service, autonomous agents, copilots, intelligent workflows).
- Working knowledge of large language models (LLMs), vector search (e.g., Azure Cognitive Search + embeddings), and prompt engineering concepts.
- Experience in Terraform, Bicep, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
- Experience with GitOps and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with SonarQube, or similar tools to ensure code quality, static code analysis, technical debt management.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD integration for quality gates using Azure DevOps pipelines or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Unit Testing and Integration Testing practices for data pipelines.
- Proficient in Azure security and compliance services:
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud (threat protection and security recommendations)
- Azure Policy (enforcing organizational standards and compliance)
- Azure Compliance Manager (risk assessments, regulatory compliance management)
- Azure Key Vault (secrets management)
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Managed Identities
- Knowledge in compliance standards like GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, and ISO 27001.
- Expertise in setting up data and system monitoring similar technologies below:
- Azure Monitor
- Log Analytics
- Application Insights
- Azure Metrics Advisor
- Dynatrace
Salary Range
$127500 - $204000 / Salaried
