Job Summary
Senior member of the M&A team which is responsible for driving the growth of Walgreen Co. through an active mergers and acquisitions program and venture capital fund. Key responsibilities include leading and supporting all aspects of M&A and venture capital activity including forecasting, valuation and analysis for transactions; designing and/or implementing consistent complex financial models and standards for evaluating target companies; executing and coordinating due diligence; monitoring the performance of acquisitions and investments to ensure that business and economic standards are being achieved and incorporating the former into future analyses to improve accuracy; certifying deal return on investment; advising management on deal financial risks and return; and making financial recommendations in a clear and confident manner.

Job Responsibilities
- Analyzes potential acquisition candidates, performs complex financial modeling, and executes the negotiation and execution of selected transactions. Engages with business intermediaries, sellers, internal business owners and other support personnel.
- Researches industry participants and competitive landscape to develop actionable awareness of potential acquisition candidates.
- Evaluates target companies for economic and strategic fit and understands and evaluates the impact of the potential transaction on business strategy.
- Leads all aspects of strategic acquisitions and divestitures, from inception through due diligence, valuation, negotiation, closing and integration, and coordinates internal approval and communication processes for completion of a transaction.
- Develops project plans, milestones, resources, risks, etc. for overall project management of projects. Organizes project teams by identifying areas of needed expertise and required skills. Directs the activities of project teams to ensure quality and timeliness of project completion.
- Supports and facilitates measurement of acquisition performance and transaction reporting.
- Prepares presentations on deal risk, returns and recommendations to management for review.
- Leads cross-functional teams consisting of members of various business leads, finance, legal, HR, IT, etc. in order to ensure timely completion of valuations, diligence and integration planning.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management or economics
- At least 2 years of M&A experience
- At least 3 years of experience performing business research such as analyzing financial statements/proxies and utilizing research databases (ie Lexis - Nexis).
- At least 3 years of experience in understanding and analyzing financial modeling.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- At least 3 years of experience using financial metrics, ratios and calculations and public financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
- At least 3 years of experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
- Experience leading and working with cross functional teams.
- At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance , Accounting or Economics
- Masters degree/MBA
- CPA, CFA or other designation
- Experience in retail, healthcare or pharmacy industry
