Director, Brand Rx Procurement
Job ID 1577653BR }Leads initiatives to optimize Walgreens' cost of goods for products and services through strategic procurement and operational programs. Develops external partnerships, creates strategies, and implements tools and processes to enhance profitability while aligning with WBA's overall objectives. Oversees relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., manufacturers) and provides strategic recommendations to support pharmacy purchasing, procurement, execution, and profitability goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops and implements procurement policies, procedures, and strategies to maximize value, reduce risks, and align with organizational objectives.
- Creates and drives value-focused procurement strategies that support the company’s overall goals.
- Leads a team responsible for strategic business analysis, reporting, and performance tracking (OGSMs) to ensure alignment with project and company strategies. Ensures contract compliance and supports negotiations for new partnerships.
- Reviews and presents business cases to senior management for approval.
- Oversees the design and implementation of operational and financial solutions for new product offerings.
- Develops and maintains strategic partnerships to optimize product profitability and expand business alliances.
- Collaborates cross-functionally and with business to business (B2B) customers to co-develop and refine solutions, improve processes, and monitor the success of value propositions.
- Participates in complex business development programs, ensuring projects meet critical milestones.
- Prepares and delivers executive-level updates and reports on program progress.
- Defines strategies, sets actionable goals, and provides subject matter expertise. Advises stakeholders on strategic initiatives and resolves complex challenges.
- Manages budgets, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and leads a team of managers and individual contributors. Focuses on staff development, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Builds executive-level relationships with manufacturers, negotiates contracts, and executes policies for product supply chains and M&A activities.
- Gathers and shares pharmaceutical market intelligence, ensuring data integrity across platforms.
- Represents the company in legal, trade, and vendor-related matters regarding procurement and distribution.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry (e.g. pharmaceutical manufacturing, distribution, sales, wholesaling, and/or retail pharmacy) OR High School diploma/GED and at least 9 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- At least 4 years of experience with P&L concepts (e.g., revenue, cost of goods, profit margins, etc.).
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and problem-resolution.
- Experience working with internal and external senior level executives and coordinating executive meetings.
- Experience in developing strategies aligned with department and company goals, within budget and timelines.
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- PharmD, Master’s degree, PhD or MBA
- Experience with Walgreens in any of the following departments: Market Access, Retail Biopharma Strategy, Pharmaceutical Purchasing and/or Supply Chain.
Salary Range $136000 - $231300 / Salaried
