Job Summary:

The Senior Director, Enterprise PMO serves as the enterprise leader responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously evolving the organization's project, program, and portfolio management capabilities. This role partners with executive leadership to translate strategic priorities into an integrated enterprise portfolio, ensuring disciplined execution, resource optimization, risk management, and measurable business outcomes. The Senior Director leads a team of PMO leaders, program managers, and portfolio professionals while driving enterprise standards, governance, reporting, and value realization practices. The role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing transparency into strategic initiatives, portfolio performance, investment decisions, capacity planning, and organizational transformation efforts.

This role is based in our Deerfield, IL office and is on‑site four days a week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the delivery of strategic business initiatives by coordinating teams that will define, manageand deliver results from significant programs.
  • Implements Walgreens strategic vision through tactics, collaboration and leadership. Works with all functional areas to create focus, gain buy-in through influence, set priorities, develop work streams and guide complex work efforts to deliver against major program goals.
  • Establishes and drives a company-wide portfolio management process to ensure consistency for prioritizing, monitoring and decision- making of corporate wide initiatives.
  • Assists leadership team with holding one another accountable for results. Assists the executive team in creating value through initiatives by defining metrics and focusing on programs with most potential for value generation.
  • Provides analysis and evaluation of business cases across the company to aide executivedecision making and prioritization. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance regarding transformation-related decisions to executive team.
  • Works with finance and operations to integrate program benefits and timing into financial and operational forecasts.
  • Sets up and facilitates, engaging and effective governance forums that drive project objectives and mobilize teams.
  • Oversees the planning, design and implementation of the Portfolio management process and tools within the PMO teams and works cross functionally and divisionally to support the organization, using tools to improve customer satisfaction, drive best practice and drive cost savings across the organization.
  • Proposes compelling strategic narratives that help the organization focus on the activities that matter most, and understand which are near term, medium term, and long-term objectives. Narratives should be appropriate for both internal and external audiences.
  • Leads the delivery of strategic business initiatives by coordinating teams that will define, manage and deliver results.
  • Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and developmentopportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in progressively more responsible strategy development and execution, project management, business development, consulting, or financial roles OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 11 years of experience in progressively more responsible strategy development and execution, project management, business development, consulting, or financial roles.
  • Experience directing strategy programs/ agenda within a corporation or management consulting firm.
  • Experience in portfolio or corporate planning type functions.
  • Experience of the full cycle of project management from concept, planning and launch through to project communications, governance, reporting and sustainability including planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
  • Experience with large-scale and complex transformation change efforts in retail organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
  • At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)


Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree
  • Healthcare and/or Retail leadership position
  • Experience in line leadership of business functions, e.g. Retail Operations, Commercial, Pharmacy, HR
  • Experience implementing business process, protocols and best practices.
  • Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at various levels of theorganization, such as peers, internal/external stakeholders, business partners, senior levelmanagers, executives.
  • Experience of building and maintaining formal and informal networks across retail organizations to support collaboration and cross-team working.
  • Experience with consultant/ contractor capability transfer, to deliver legacy organizationalcapability enhancement.
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others, solving problems as they arise and mobilizing teams to deliver.

Salary Range: $175000 - $284375 / Salaried
