Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Public Affairs, the Senior Director, Civic and Stakeholder Engagement, will oversee the development and implementation of short and long-term business objectives in alignment with reputation strategies to minimize negative impact and maximize positive outcomes for the communities we serve. This role is a critical thought leader who will advise executive leadership, including C-suite leadership, on potential impact to communities. This role will be essential to foster and strengthen relationships with community leaders at the state and local level, including active engagement with political leaders and at forums and events.
The role will work closely with other members of the Government Relations leadership team and with the Corporate Affairs Department more broadly, ultimately reporting up through the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.

Job Responsibility:
  • Optimize corporate positioning as a community leader, while implementing Walgreens vision to be a good neighbor and focusing on the company’s image through the development of best-in-class practices.
  • Establish a portfolio of corporate and field advocates and partners by identifying and cultivating relationships with key community influencers across the political, government, and non-profit sectors.
  • Provide informed recommendations for improvement while resolving politically-sensitive inquiries that might have an impact on company reputation and/or business goals.
  • Acts as a SME in community engagement, proactively identifying opportunities to partner with key markets to drive impact within defined priorities.
  • Collaborate on across departments at the company to present a unified voice to external allies
  • Represent Walgreens at appropriate public affairs events, such as community forums…
  • Focus on impact of policies and business initiatives on community
  • Develop operational process to measure outcomes and optimize based on results.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 8 years of experience in marketing/communications strategy and operations OR High School/GED and at least 11 years of experience in marketing/communications strategy and operations
  • At least 8 years of experience building and managing a team
  • Experience establishing relationships at the state and local level
  • Experience facilitating meetings, resolving conflict, building consensus, establishing rapport and collaborating effectively, both internally and externally, and across all levels of an organization
  • Experience applying discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information
  • Experience interacting at the executive level
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or MBA

Salary Range: $186500 - $320000 / Salaried
