Job Summary:

As a Senior Financial Analyst – Pharmacy Underwriting, you will play a critical role in helping shape strategic pricing and underwriting decisions across the pharmacy business. You'll use advanced financial modeling, data analytics, and business acumen to evaluate complex opportunities, forecast financial outcomes, and provide recommendations that directly influence business performance. You'll work alongside senior leaders and cross-functional business partners, taking complex data and turning it into clear, actionable insights. From developing financial models and scenario analyses to evaluating strategic initiatives and identifying opportunities for profitable growth, you'll have the opportunity to influence decisions that matter.

This role is ideal for an analytical and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys solving complex problems, challenging assumptions, and connecting financial analysis to real-world business decisions. You'll also help advance the team's capabilities by improving analytical tools and processes and mentoring junior analysts.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Acts as subject matter expert and advisor on topic of assigned analytical tools, enterprise data systems and/or analytical methodologies for the team

  • Utilizes innovative data visual presentation strategies to ensure data is conveyed in meaningful and interpretive formats for all audience levels.

  • Uses analytical and/or statistical methodologies and supporting tools for evaluating Company processes, business problems, and/or ROI of products and services.

  • Collaborates with the account teams and contracting to identify and isolate variances resulting from over/under payment practices and factoring these into actual-to-expected results.

  • Leads the utilization of all models and tools used to compare executed contract terms and conditions to parameters included in internal and external data sources. Identifies data source deficiencies among company data and suggests path to resolve.

  • Performs specific tasks identified in the compliance monitoring program to include evaluation of definitions, price increase maintenance and network identification.

  • Recommends improvements to standard model assumptions and multifaceted business problems within the organization. Updates processes, using findings from performance monitoring (For example, adding order logic steps to improve on data matching).

  • Works cross functionally with peers in Sales, Finance, Law, Contract Development, and Contract Operations

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of experience in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Business, Actuarial Science, or Computer Science OR High School Diploma / GED and at least 4 years of experience in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Business, Actuarial Science, or Computer Science.

  • Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies and project plans that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, business partners and leadership) and external (business community, clients and vendors) within a matrix organization to ensure quality standards for service.

  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending upon oneself to resolve issues to ensure completed objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.

  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

  • Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: changing picture styles, customizing animation and/or setting automatic slide timings).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: adding developer tab, creating a macro, formatting table style, inserting comments and/or creating a mail merge).

  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).



Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with demonstrated experience building complex financial models and analyses.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Business, Actuarial Science, Pharmacoeconomics, or a related quantitative field.

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.

  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, or other advanced analytical/coding languages.

  • Experience utilizing business intelligence and data visualization tools to analyze data and communicate insights.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, opportunities, and root causes and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop financial forecasts, evaluate scenarios, assess business risks and opportunities, and make data-driven recommendations in situations involving ambiguity or incomplete information.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and analytical concepts into clear recommendations for senior leaders and executives.

  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, or developing less-senior team members.

  • Experience in pharmacy, pharmaceutical, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), healthcare consulting, managed care, or a related healthcare organization.

  • Experience with pharmaceutical or pharmacy pricing, reimbursement, financial modeling, or underwriting.

Salary Range: $65000 - $113750 / Salaried
