Systems Engineer II - Dynatrace
Job ID 1619244BRWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Systems Engineer with strong expertise in Dynatrace to join our IT Operations team supporting Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical owner for our application and infrastructure monitoring strategy using Dynatrace.
Your focus will be on proactively monitoring the health and performance of our pharmacy applications, integration points, and server environments—ensuring real-time visibility and early detection of potential issues. The ideal candidate will bring mid to senior-level experience with Dynatrace and demonstrate a deep understanding of application performance monitoring (APM), root cause analysis, and proactive alerting strategies. You will play a major role in ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability of our systems, as well as collaborate closely with application support, infrastructure, and development teams to design intelligent alerting and drive timely incident response.
This is a critical role aimed at improving observability, minimizing downtime, and enhancing the resilience and reliability of systems that serve our patients and clinical teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs and implements the daily operational activities of the Technology engineering work function. This work may include responsibilities to deploy, operate, scale, tune and troubleshoot server systems, website, app infrastructure and/or other systems.
- Monitors, evaluates and troubleshoots components and subcomponents of networked and other systems for reliability, performance, security and compliance.
- Implements necessary fixes to ensure continuous operation. Participates in installing, adjusting and enhancing systems for availability, latency, scalability and efficiency.
- Builds tools and scripts.
- Identifies and determines likely reasons for problematic causes. Prepares accurate documentation and communication to effectively facilitate elimination of problems / roadblocks as they occur and create efficient fixes.
- Implements activities that impact discrete components / processes of the work of own unit / team / projects.
- Interacts with internal and external peers and/or managers to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities.
- Participates in software and/or system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting. Provides feedback regarding standards and methods for operating services and systems.

- Has working knowledge of systems administration.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in a technical role OR High school Diploma / GED and at least 5 years of experience in a technical role.
- Experience in Technology infrastructure, such as Infrastructure, Systems, Databases, or similar
- Experience with technical design process and models.
- Knowledge of MS Azure Cloud Infrastructure and Software Development Life Cycle
- Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Application Monitoring, or IT Operations.
- Proven hands-on experience with Dynatrace, including setup, administration, and customization of alerts and dashboards in complex, distributed environments.
- Strong understanding of application architectures, APIs, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with incident management and operational support processes (ITIL a plus).
- Experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare or pharmacy preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools.
- Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Background in pharmacy systems or healthcare IT environments.

Salary Range: $71400 - $114300 / Salaried
