Lead Staff Pharmacist
Job ID 1657111BRResponsible for providing support to pharmacy leadership through coaching and providing feedback/recognition to Staff Pharmacists in an assigned team. Assists pharmacy leadership with work distribution within the team, escalated issues that arise, and scheduling to achieve business objectives. Performs clinical and professional pharmaceutical work in the review, processing, compounding, and dispensing of prescribed medications, drugs and supplies needed for patient care.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews prescriptions for key data elements against the original prescription to ensure all information is accurately interpreted and recorded in the system software.
- Performs drug utilization review of entered prescriptions which includes patient known allergies, drug or food interactions, duplication of therapy, proper utilization, generic substitution and reasonable directions of use and dose
- Directs, delegates and assigns duties to staff in collaboration with pharmacy leadership; provides effective feedback, coaching and training to staff to help develop employees and improve performance.
- Identifies, develops and implements potential solutions to resolve problems and/or remove barriers that inhibit the department from achieving performance goals.
- Assists supervisor in the development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures related to system applications, programs, and processes
- Investigates and resolves internal and/or external issues and collaborate with other departments as necessary; works to provide prompt and accurate resolution while adhering to guiding principles.
- Reviews entered prescriptions for completeness, accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
- Guides employees in compliance with established policies and procedures; provides leadership team assistance with work distribution and scheduling to achieve business objectives.
- Runs reports daily and/or weekly for team and individual performance statistics and assists with extrapolation of data from system applications to develop reports regarding productivity trends; advise pharmacy management of findings and trends
- Responsible for ensuring and supports compliance with Federal, State, and Local pharmacy laws as well as company and facility policies and procedures.
- Obtains non resident licensure for PIC backup as required.
- Other responsibilities as judgment or necessity dictate.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Basic Qualifications
- BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Current Pharmacist license as granted by the appropriate state licensing authority.
- 5 years' work experience as a Pharmacist
- Strong attention to detail and quality with proven problem-solving skills
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, motivate, coach and provide feedback to team members
Preferred Qualifications
- PharmD degree in pharmacy
- 1 year of experience in mail service, long term care, or specialty pharmacy
- Working knowledge of Pharmacy Systems
- Strong focus on customer service, quality and accuracy
- Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
- Additional State Board of Pharmacy licenses or other credentials, such as NABP Verify, based on regulatory requirements and/ or business needs
- Willing to work in different and/or multiple work environments (such as Call Center, MicroFulfillment Center, Store, etc.) and maximize time across locations with proven success
Salary Range: $113360 - $131040 / Salaried
